Endorphins Social App Design
BackgroundThe idea for Endorphins originated from my personal experience when I first arrived in Toronto. Navigating various platforms and social media to find sports communities, such as running clubs, was time-consuming and challenging. I realized that an app dedicated to a directory of local sports communities and activities would be immensely helpful for newcomers and anyone looking to stay active while building social connections. When the capstone required us to either create or re-design an app, I seized the opportunity to implement my idea using what I have learned from the course.

Challenge
Users face significant frustration and inefficiency due to the lack of a centralized app for discovering local sports communities, resulting in wasted time across multiple platforms. This challenge impacts their physical and social well-being, as many struggle to meet activity recommendations and newcomers often take months to integrate into local communities.
Highlights
My Role

As the founder and UX designer, I developed the app idea based on observed problems, created user flows and personas, conducted market research and competitor analysis, and designed sketches and prototypes from low to high fidelity. I also prepared several pitch presentations for the business.
Design process
In 12 weeks, the design process began with an initial idea and progressed through problem understanding via ideation and user discussions. This led to sketches, which were then developed into low-fidelity prototypes. These were refined into high-fidelity versions, reviewed and tested with real users, with feedback resulting in improvements to background and fonts for better visibility.
Problem Statement
Users face significant frustration and inefficiency due to the lack of a centralized app for discovering local sports communities tailored to their personal schedules and interests. This results in wasted time across multiple platforms and impacts their physical and social well-being, as many struggle to meet activity recommendations and newcomers often take months to integrate into local communities.
User Persona
Based on the observed problem, two target audiences were identified: Newcomers/Travellers and Sport Enthusiasts. User personas were drafted to visualize these target groups.
Competitor Analysis
To understand the market and industry trends, market research and competitor analysis were conducted to grasp the business landscape and identify areas for differentiation and opportunity.
User Flow
Combining the research and user personas, a user flow was drafted to visualize the app’s flow and guide the design process.
Sketches
With these results in mind, simple sketches were created to shape the app’s initial concept.
Low Fidelity
To bring the sketches into digital format, low-fidelity wireframes were drafted and initial prototypes were created.

High Fidelity
High-fidelity wireframes were developed, and after several rounds of review and testing, the final prototype was established.
